TMHP Oversight Results in Misdirected SHARS Claims

Niki KellyIndustry News

A significant oversight occurred during a recent system update by the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP), resulting in SHARS Medicaid claims being erroneously dispatched to various Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) across Texas. This TMHP error led to numerous districts receiving unwarranted denial notices for student claims. We want to make it clear that this issue originated with TMHP; Onward has always and will continue to route claims exclusively through the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) claim system and will not direct claims to any other insurance entity.

If you have received a denial notice from any of the MCOs, please be aware that these notices were mistakenly issued because of TMHP’s error. For more information about these organizations, please visit Texas Health and Human Services or click HERE to see a complete list of MCOs by service area.

TMHP has confirmed that the routing issue has been corrected and that all impacted claims, once resubmitted, will be processed correctly.  Onward will ensure that all affected claims are resubmitted for appropriate processing.  While you may still receive additional denial notices as these claims are processed, rest assured that no action is required on your part at this time.

Please forward any denial notices you receive to finance@onwardlearning.com. We will retain these records for future reference if necessary.

Thank you for your attention to this update and your ongoing trust in Onward.

Sincerely,
The Onward Learning Team
