SHARS: Interim Billing & Cost Report Notice from HHSC
This notice is a reminder of current interim billing requirements as they relate to the SHARS program:
Per TAC RULE §354.1342, school districts are required to submit claims for SHARS services reimbursable by Medicaid in the manner and format prescribed by the Commission or its designee, at the time services are delivered, including billing for each cost category for which the district will seek reimbursement through the annual Cost Report.
If a district does not successfully bill at least once for a cost category that they seek reimbursement for in the cost report, those costs will be disallowed.
If a district bills in a manner or format that does not meet the requirements prescribed, these billings will not qualify as successful. If you are unclear about what is considered an appropriate billing, please reach out to HHSC.
